2025, return to Tower City...
Two parties, both alike in (lack of) dignity, are preparing for election day.
Roger (Romeo) and Merv (Mercutio) are volunteering for Labor at the pre-polling booths, alongside Benji (Benvolio) from the Greens, while Jules (Juliet) and her cousin Tim Bolt (Tybalt) are supporting Jules's father Stephen Capeling (Capulet), who's running for the Liberals.
Despite political differences, it's love at first sight for Roger and Jules.
But sadly, the whirlwind romance seems destined for disaster.
Just like every other election.
Alike in Dignity is a parody of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, while also a satire of Australia's political climate between approximately 2010 and 2025. A very fun comedy for people who know nothing about either, even more enjoyable for those who know a little about both.
