2026, return to Tower City...

A quirky comedy-of-errors about the cost of living, the Community invites us to the fictional town of rural Edwardsville, where multinational corporate giant “Nine Mart” has just opened its newest shopping centre and hypnotised a colourful cast of locals.
Soon, the impacts of this begin to show. Community groups cancel sessions, local businesses shut down, and families are forced to take on second jobs. Minimum wages are stretched further and further, while the bigger business continues to show benefits only for the CEO, who visits once every few months, in between buying investment properties.
Is it too late to get things back the way they were?
A sharp critique of the cost of living crisis, with an emphasis on small towns, this play is currently in development with Brown’s Mart Theatre.
